Introduction
The Degree in Design and Development of Video Games and Serious Games is an engineering degree applied tothe design and creation of video games,games and serious games while connecting with two of the prevailing needs of the industry: developers and game design profiles.
These are the first video game studies which have favorable accreditation from the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency.
This video was made for the degree version called Interactive Digital Content (CDI in its Catalan acronym), and the essential points remain valid for the new Degree in the Design and Development of Video Games and Serious Games (DDVJA in its Catalan acronym)
The purpose of this Degree in the Design and Development of Video Games and Serious Games is to provide comprehensive training to future developers, game designers and producers of games, as well as training students, from a multi-disciplinary point of view, in the design, production and development of video games and serious games.
Abilities acquired
In this degree, with a holistic vision, students will learn the whole process of creating and developing video games, taking the initiative and communicating effectively, learning in an autonomous way to give convincing arguments, and contributing satisfactorily to the objectives of a multi-disciplinary team.
The student will be able to conceptualise, design, produce and manage recreational pieces, as well as Serious Games and Gamification campaigns, and also to integrate into a multi-disciplinary team assuming the task of programmer.
The student will acquire the ability to understand the main elements of management and business in the field of video games: production, communication, marketing, monetisation, legal aspects, etc., and they will be able to create a vertical slice of a video game through Unity or Unreal graphics engines, which will serve as the basis to start a business in the video game industry.

This course has been a pioneering degree in the training of developers and designers specialising in video games since 2013. Its graduates learn subjects related to developing, game design, business management, and work on real and applied projects in each year of the 4-year degree.
The developer profile is one of the most demanded positions (26% of the total)* in the video game industry, as well as game design (11% of the total)*. It is a constantly growing market in its turnover and job opportunities and one which requires qualified professionals (70% of workers in the field of video games have higher education)*, and the Degree in Design and Development of Video Games and Serious Games at ENTI-UB is the best possible door opening up to the sector.

How to access the course
The entry requirements for the Degree are as follows:
- Hold a Baccalaureate qualification and pass the university access test.
- Be a student of a European Union member state, with which Spain has signed an International Agreement.
- Be a student of a foreign country (not part of the European Union) who has applied for the homologation of their qualification with the Spanish baccalaureate qualification.
- Hold the qualification of Senior Technician corresponding to the Professional Training education and Artistic Education or Senior Technician corresponding to the Sports Education referred to in articles 44, 53 and 65 of Organic Law 2/2006, on Education.
- Be over 25 years old, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the additional provision number 25 of Organic Law 2/2001 on Universities.
- Accredit work or professional experience, in accordance with article 42.4 of Organic Law 2/2001, on Universities, in the drafting of Law 4/2007.
- Be over 45 years of age in accordance with article 42.4 of Organic Law 2/2001, on Universities, in the drafting of Law 4/2007.
- Be in possession of a Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Be in possession of an official university qualification holding a University Diploma, Technical Architect, Technical Engineer, Graduate, Architect or Engineer, corresponding to the previous legislation on university degrees.
- Have completed or partly completed foreign university studies which have not obtained homologation in Spain and for students who want to continue studying at a Spanish university. It will be an indispensable requirement for the corresponding university to have recognised that the student has a minimum of 30 credits.
Course curriculum
Full-time course
During the first year of admission onto a university degree course, the student must enrol for 60 credits.
From the second year of admission onwards, and for first-year students who have previously completed, in full or in part, other official university studies at any university, the student must enrol for between 46 and 60 credits. Exceptionally, and when justified, the head of studies, by express resolution, can authorise an enrolment exceeding 60 credits up to a maximum of 78 credits per academic year.
Part-time course
During the first year of admission onto a university degree course, the student must enrol for 30 credits.
From the second year of admission onwards, and for first-year students who have previously completed, in full or in part, other official university studies at any university the student must enrol for between 18 and 45 credits.
